C'mon frens, gather round the campire here. We all know that 4chan isn't going to make things better, if you don't like this place just think of it like a little retreat until we make better chan I guess.
>>1531 >>1532 >>1533 Well thank you for coming, I got a fresh 7 day ban. It was 100% worth it.
So whacha think, stick around here or make another altchan? It has support for WEBP/AV1 at least. It's only 1 person working on it AFAIK, his name is void.
>>1536 Well do you know anything about altchan creation?
void-san if you're here go easy on us, we're all very desperate to leave /g/ and have nowhere to discuss it as threads keep getting deleted and users banned there.
>>1538 This website has only been around for a few months so a lot of stuff is still under construction. Void-san might be willing to add that board if you ask him in the feedback thread but right now this place just needs users.
To the owner of the site, PLEASE disable the cloudflare auto block list of us mullvad vpn exits, i had to go to some third world country to access this site, please just add hcapcha or something!
>>1543 As someone who isn't well versed in these things, how actually useful are self hosted options like altcha, anubis, hcapcha and whatever else there is?
>>1544 Also i would bump the main thread but it's literally impossible to post on 4chan anymore with a vpn unless you pay (and thus give KYC and defeat the fucking purpose) and that probably explains a huge chunk of the traffic lost so all i can do is browse.
>>1534 If it was only up to me I'd let people say whatever and deal with them on individual basis, but unfortunately in 2026 you have to take into account deplatforming and even legal ramifications. That's why I ask you guys to be understanding, this is just me hosting the site, I don't have the means to hire a law firm to handle these matters for me like 4chan does. I'm sorry
>>1548 Can you explain what you mean? are you not hosted in america? or are you using some big service provider and worried that seeing some slurs will have them give you the boot? >>1550 I very much appreciate it
>>1553 Nope, unfortunately the 1st amendment is just a dream for me lol. The website is hosted in Europe There is also cloudflare and although I don't think they mind a few slurs, I have to be careful so things don't get out of control, so to speak
>>1556 You're gonna have to forgive us if we choose to build another altchan to escape the AI spam on /g/ then. Although it sounds like this is becoming harder as time goes on.
It's quite the pickle we're in. 4chan has been getting worse and in response countless altchans have been created including yours but we just can't seem to find the "Goldilocks zone" kind of altchan. It's been this constant back-and-forth tug of war. Like when the site got hacked in 2025 we mostly took refuge in the soyjak altchan that showed up but we quickly came back to 4chan.
I kinda don't mind wordfilters as even 4chan itself has them but I'm gonna be honest the UI here needs improvement. That might be one of the things pushing people away.
@ballisticromantic I just noticed you decided to make an account here. I'm assuming you you've at least considered making this place your home. Do you have any suggestions on how to get more anons to get them to come here so it won't be just me, you, and void-san? I've gotten the boot shoved up my ass for 7 days on 4chan for my bravery so I can't do much over there and maybe spamming links isn't the right way to get people to move over anyway.
No offence @void and most of the altchans that grew started and stayed like this for a while before suddenly they weren't empty places anymore. Good luck man.
>>1569 It's all good, the hardest part is getting people to join the website, if you guys already have a community, the coding part is super easy, you guys should definitely go for it >I kinda don't mind wordfilters as even 4chan itself has them but I'm gonna be honest the UI here needs improvement. Do you think a classic chan UI would be better? >>1570 >stayed like this for a while before suddenly they weren't empty places anymore Yep, thankfully the hosting is cheap lol
>>1571 Yeah but not too generic. Something that stands out but isn't as ugly as the current UI. Like make it not feel like a twitter clone.
Like idk man, the sidebar thing is compact but why not leave it at the top of the website? You could also include board shortcuts there too like /tech/ /meta/ and so on and so on.
>>1573 I've been thinking of making an alt UI for some time, initially it'd be like the traditional chan UIs To be honest UI UX is pretty hard to get it right
Seconding word filters that are creative like "Melon marauders" or something savvy for the obvious ideas, and a basic bottem right theme filter like chans would be great too, it's not like people couldn't get used to filters, you'd just have to get creative with em. or hell, figure out if offshore hosting in bumfuck nowhere where the rules are "lol blow me" is a possibility
>>1575 Most other providers don't have the same level of anti spam/ddos capability which is why 8kun or whatever they call that fizzling shithole now tends to have terrible reliability issues now.
It shouldn't have to be like this though, there's something very wrong with one company controls free speech on the web.
>>1576 Well that's why i was asking earlier how well do those self hostable instances work? do they just become money pits because they're worthless against dedicated attackers/ai/whatever? is cloudflare REALLY the only option? it can't be so.
Also add the auto update tickers when you implement the chan themes, or add it to your currently existing one, no reason not to just take every good idea and use it again (unless constantly auto updating is too big a strain for some reason)
>>1575 >>1576 >>1577 Even if self-hosting is viable, depending on where you are you can still get into trouble with the law. Governments everywhere are working hard to censor people online https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn0pky4zpxxo >Ofcom has criticised TikTok and YouTube, saying in a new report their content feeds are "not safe enough" for children
>>1580 Yeah it honestly does seem like anywhere that's not america is doomed to fail for freedom of speech, while inside of america you're technically not going to be jailed but you sure as hell are going to be deplatformed with no funding route, ddosed by mentally ill people, spammed with illegal content, etc if you self host.
>>1582 Not much to be honest, anything on the internet is subject to being absolutely stuffed unless you have small country tier defenses or have sign on or post processes like "Take a photo of your id, now do a handstand, now do the hokey pokey, now cook some some medium rare (but not medium well) steak after getting your blood sample taken and analyzed by a lab"
>>1585 We'll see, this isn't a bad place but if your place is on the web then it's theoretically accessible unless you've somehow blocked web crawlers >>1586 I sure have, it's nice but im just going to be a stickler and say having an option for the actual chan ui (or a close approximation) is a good idea for users.
Could the rumors that 4chan replaced jannies with AI actually be true? I made a meta thread after OP's thread got deleted except in the comment box I talked positively about AI.
Like wtf, there's no actual humans looking at what's being posted in the images? It's just AIs looking for nono words speaking bad about AI?
>>1588 >I sure have, it's nice but im just going to be a stickler and say having an option for the actual chan ui (or a close approximation) is a good idea for users. I'm gonna try that starting with a CSS overhaul >>1590 AI for something simple like moderation is pretty cheap nowadays so I wouldn't doubt it
>>1590 I would believe that both jannies and at least 30-40% of the posters on /g/ now are actual fucking bots, that snail cat fucker never getting his posts removed or banned tells me it's ai moderation.
>>1593 Something something propping up a dead board because if it was actual traffic the posts would be something like 50 people an hour or something and comparable to 8chan >>1594 >The problem is that jannies have ego, they're human beings.
>>1597 I was going to say that's dumb but considering how stupid the average browser might be now with certain countries browsing it and gen z/alpha on it, who knows they might not even have adblock on.
>>1530 >who you're not allowed to criticize should add "publicly in a large group" or another conditional cus a group employees will shit talk their boss
>>1570 I also sometimes post here. I have a couple of threads working on image compression/upscaling but lately I've just been watching 2024 Shogun tbh.
>>1626 Man, it's like watching your role model actor becoming a drug addict. I sometimes wonder if there's anything we can do to save 4chan. But after finding out about the deletion of /qa/ which caused the 2025 hack to bring it back it makes conclude that it's better to just let it die.
>>1590 When they did a big site update about a month ago they started deleting picrel so it's plausible. It could be someone fucking with us but mods putting this up and deleting it after backlash wouldn't surprise me.
Maybe the AI janny mistook your post image for a twitter screenshot and put you on some kind of nice list.
>>1631 Holy shit, 80 fucking results from one the variants, only like 10 deleted. Not including permutations where it was cropped/resized, just a single MD5 hash.
>>1626 >Over 2k daily posts on /his/ these numbers dont seem to correlate to reality, that board is slow as fuck, how many are samefegs on page 10 threads
>>1634 I can definitely imagine these huge AI companies making a deal with 4chan to mass purchase gorrillions of passes to let their AIs shitpost on 4chan to mould mass opinion about AI in a positive light.
Like there's some suspicious posts lately calling people who hate AI trannies. Like they couldn't get enough people to buy it by just calling them luddites so now they're appealing to something else.
Gives me the same vibes when I saw a lot of Israel influencers downplay starving Palestinians by cherry picking a few of the fat ones and ignoring hospitals full of kids that looked like skeletons.
>>1636 I do believe something like that is possible, i wonder how far back they were able to reliably produce convincing sounding 4chan posts, 3 years ago? 4? even more on internal fed models?
considering the recent stats about bot traffic, it's safe to assume you are either dealing with an indian or a bot whenever you're reading or posting anywhere on the internet of course in many cases LLMs won't even register as bot traffic since they've been able to pilot normal browsers on normal machines directly for a while
>>1640 That is the real question, how do you allow anonymous posting while on the internet without having it be abused by bots or third worlders who get paid to act like such? hell if you have sign ups we know that ai has been able to get passed capchas and other checks etc for a while (not sure about local models yet, but i'd be interested to know) so that's not exactly impossible unless their training just refuses to do so. we really do live in an online reality where slowly day day by the percentage on modern content being an actual human or made by human hands is getting lower and lower, even if only by 0.001% a day. maybe the only refuges left are niche autistic interests.
>>1640 I work for a company that proliferates mass comments on the big boy social media platforms
our customers pay us to achieve auto replying and auto liking peoples comments on ig, yt, etc.
this is a very lucrative business for x, ig, etc because they charge a ton for api access. Not everyone can afford it. And even when they can afford api access, there is a strict application process companies need to succeed with to gain access
so not all activity is bot net in nature.
of course there are ways to circumvent this with Indian mobile spammer farms, real poop eaters solving captchas and typing/liking comments
as for 4chuds, my conspiracy is they have artificial posts pre-written posts ready to push content off /g/. Most posts are a few words. Easy enough to mass produce and fire at will
On the idea of having altchans 8ch moe still exists and it's cost to post isn't that hard (abelt i dont know how it works behind the scenes i think its just a shit ton of cpu challenges) and i think it may be the only place left that's truly free and anonymous.
>>1644 Does it have a dedicated AI slop board? That's the only reason I'm here tbh, 4chan knows there's a growing problem with it and even has like 4 fucking vidya gay boards but /g/ gets left to turn i to /ai/.
Like I don'r want to hear that "le AGI has been achieved for reals now!" thread #19483, I just want a place to discuss tech and be left alone. I don't give a fuck if that means like 1 post per hour at most, at least it won't be spam tbh.
>>1641 >That is the real question, how do you allow anonymous posting while on the internet without having it be abused by bots or third worlders who get paid to act like such? That's the billion dollars question. I think after you reach a certain scale, there isn't much you can do about it. Even giants like tiktok and twitter have to deal with them Maybe making the community invite only and limiting the number of invites each user can send? By the way, I disabled captcha here and so far there hasn't been any spam, maybe it's because the website is so small that it stays under the radar
>>1645 Anyone can create a board so yes https://8chan.moe/ais/ i dont see a general ai news thread but if you ask im sure the board owner would allow it, or if you're saying you'd like a tech board specifically https://8chan.moe/t/ and it looks a lot more calm >>1646 >community invite only and limited the number of invites KF has that kind of with requiring users to send out emails for an invite (this is flawed and ai can do this trivially) but they still get hammered with CP and ddos by angry "women" because they allow talking about them freely and i do not expect that site to last sadly because of the enormous costs that puts on them which really sucks, but that's what happens in a world where speaking freely is prosecuted, hell some of the users have literally gotten their info handed over because they were idiots and used their bare ip (never ever ever ever ever browse the internet without a vpn) and even then it's not anonymous they still have user names which you could track across posts to gather info on them and pinpoint who they are with enough points to some degree of accuracy.
>>1648 That's life, expect the number of people who can speak freely without being identified in some easy manner to be less then 100k nowadays with how almost zero sites have it or they have relatively low users (like ch)
>>1672 It's actually way more complicated than that if you want good compression efficiency, I have a thread about it if you're interested. Otherwise exporting to %01d.png through ffmpeg and importing that to GIMP and then exporting to animated Webp seems like the easiest way to work with it albeit at low compression efficiency. Would be nice if someone made a single GUI program for doing all of this though.
Welcome traveler, I assume you came from 4chan? My ip range is banned there so I stopped bothering with that place tbh. Even when you dox yourself with an email anons have been complaining about expired links. That place is a mess man.
>>1676 It's quite literally the worst place for anonymity >vpns banned >have to do this stupid ass capcha that never works properly >if you want to get past the first two you need to dox yourself with a pass
>>1677 I wonder if Hiro is trying to pull another 2chan heist. I'd do it if I owned 4chan and it was dying tbh. Cash it in before I shut her down for good.
>>1686 You should be more mad at rapeape for burning 4chan to the ground. He just deleted a thread about himself where we finally see what this disgusting mutt ape with tattoos looks like.
what's up with the very inorganic posts shitting on this board? >Vibecoded piece of garbage site that sits behind cloudflare, fingerprints you, loads 50-something JS files on every load...holy shit just fucking kill yourself for making this. this woodpecker just described 4chan and the seething just goes on. unironically who are making these posts?
>>1788 Would not surprise me if 4chan mods have decided to shame users for trying to leave. Those posts could even be AI generated for all we know. Maybe that's why they haven't deleted the thread yet, so that they can make examples out of deserters.
The flood of snailcat/luddite spam in there also feels AI generated responses too.
>>1798 >capchas necessary evil and you only have to fill out one (and they're actually doable) >less active so fix that, make posts, keep talking about it.
>>1797 >>1798 >>1801 IMHO I still think umigalaxy fills a niche where you want the things that 4chan doesn't offer like an AI slop containment board and AV1 but you don't want to look at porn/gore/ and racial slurs being thrown around all the time all willy nilly.
Depending on how dystopian the world order gets I can see 8ch being shut down in the near future so if you value an extreme level of freedom of speech you shouldn't take it for granted. Though depending on the laws from your country you should definitely use a VPN there, all that freedom means you'll come across stuff that can get you in legal trouble.
>>1807 Site owner seems to have passes planned but they're free for now. I hope we avoid having to have ads shoved in our face all the time for the latest ass coin scam.
>>1788 >Vibecoded piece of garbage site that sits behind cloudflare, fingerprints you, loads 50-something JS files on every load...holy shit just fucking kill yourself for making this. Lmao, made me laugh tbh >>1793 Well I tried creating a character to use as placeholder for the cosmetics page. Pic related. >>1797 I wish things weren't this way >>1807 >>1814 There's a supporter tier, but it won't be monetized unless necessary so I just give it away for free. Dealing with money is a pain in the ass, I don't wanna do it unless I have to >>1813 Yeah that's my feeling. Dealing with porn is a lot of trouble nowadays, they want to add age verification everywhere. The age of the free internet is over imo
Found a few bugs while posting this. webp images aren't loading on the image picker on windows and when I press on >>1814 it adds the code to the bottom of the reply box instead of putting it where I was typing. Posting this so I can remember to fix these.
>>1828 >i wish things werent this way i know, but that's why im asking whoever keeps shilling umigalaxy on 4chan to start shilling 8ch instead in sly wars, it's not your fault but this place is not truly free
>>1828 I like the idea of an AIslop containment board and not having to see walls of racial slurs when discussing programming/general tech. I try to shill only when /g/ anons cry about the AIslop. However like other anon said, I should mention 8ch for max freedom of speech.
