>>1710 Nah but I've been able to learn to to make and execute bash scripts on WSL, though this was done through a virtualized Ubuntu install not a gentoo one. I'm currently using it to compare image codecs with CVVDP though I've had to call the windows CVVDP install as emulating it on WSL has been a pain.
I do hope one day I become skilled enough to run everything on the bare metal. I'd love to see what the performance of those ARM chromebooks is like for testing purposes.
Look, I tried to switch from Arch to Gentoo, but it's wasting my god damn time. I swear, it takes 8 hours to compile some random fucking package, and then it suddenly fails. Also why is the package manager written with Python? When I switched back from Gentoo to Arch, It felt like pacman was unbelievably fast.
I run Gentoo +OpenRC + Sway on all my machines. I used Arch for ~3 years before that, but I switched because pacman kind of sucks, and managing packages on arch got way too annoying. Now, I just run updates in the background like once per week. My desktop has an i5-10600k and 16GB ram, so updates are reasonably fast. Even on my shitty ThinkPad, they're not that bad. Gentoo is just comfy, man.
